The worlds of Varrentombe represent my second, slightly more ambitious effort with Adobe Atmosphere. Teaming with script writer Steven Licciardi, I attempted to create a truly challenging series of puzzles and tests in the form of a fantasy adventure quest. Set in medievel times, the players are left on an island occupied only by a graveyard and an ancient haunted castle. All they know is that unknown monsters and fates lurk within, and that if they prevail, there will be untold treasures to be gained. Through a series of twelve worlds, the players face a wide variety of perils and environments.Ideally, Varrentombe was meant to push the fusion of inventive javascripting and immersive storytelling to a new level. Whether it succeeds in that is yet to be determined. The last world of Varrentombe is still in the making, but hopefully, it will cap off a truly enjoyable adventure gaming experience.
